Mr. Carlson’s career has paralleled the growth of the information technology industry from back office automation to strategic business process enabler.  For over 26 years Mr. Carlson has specialized in developing and implementing leading-edge business solutions that provide competitive advantage through the systematic exploitation of technology.  At Criterion Systems, Mr. Carlson leads the solution and business development initiatives.  Mr. Carlson has run 2 startup companies selling one to IBM in 1995.

Mr. Carlson spent 10 years at IBM in various executive roles.  He served as part of the executive team transforming the “go-to-market” strategy moving IBM from a technology capability to a global solution offering.  He led the solution strategy for the Public Sector Americas (State & Local Government, Federal Government, Healthcare, Life Sciences and Education segments).

Mr. Carlson’s last job at IBM was leading an Emerging Business Opportunity (EBO) initiative out of IBM research.  The EBO was based upon breakthrough search and semantic technology invented by researchers.  As the GM for this business he built a global organization comprising over 120 professionals to create and execute the strategy, marketing, development, deployment and implementation.  The project was featured on the cover of a 2004 Fortune Magazine and was written up in multiple technical journals including IEEE.  As part of this initiative, Mr. Carlson’s team built one of the world’s top 50 supercomputers as a loosely coupled, SOA Linux cluster.

Mr. Carlson began his career with Accenture (at the time Andersen Consulting) where he spent 10 years delivering leading edge business solutions to a diverse set of customers.
