OVERVIEW

Oak Ridge National Laboratory Geographic Information Science and Technology Group requires assistance from an outside subcontractor for the purpose of providing technical support in the area of web-based application development and web services development in support of the Population Density Tables (PDT) Project.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Performs a variety of full life-cycle application design functions for existing and new software systems. Defines, gathers and analyzes user requirements and specifications. Analyzes and documents complex business rules. Assists in interface design and information architecture of software systems. Generate wireframes, logos, and functional components to be developed by software engineers. Works closely with software engineers to ensure feasibility of design and ensure it is developed to specification. Evaluates complex data and evaluates method for access, visualizing, and interacting with information in an intuitive way. Reports to technical lead for a task or project. Evaluate final software application to assist in identification of design flaws and opportunities for improvement.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in Web Design, Mobile Design, Information Architecture, System Usability, or other related field.
8 years of experience in software design and information architecture.

US Citizenship is required for this position

*This position is part-time. The ideal candidate would work remote but needs to attend weekly meetings on-site at the Oak Ridge, Tennessee work location. Virtual meetings are not an option.
