Criterion’s Dr. J. Greg Hanson to Present ISR Fusion Architecture at AFITC
Former U.S. Senate CIO to Discuss Innovations that Deliver Real-Time Information to the Edge
Vienna, VA, August 24, 2010 – Dr. J. Greg Hanson, Criterion Systems’ Chief Operating Officer (COO), is speaking at the Air Force Information Technology Conference (AFITC) in Montgomery, Ala. Dr. Hanson’s seminar, ‘ISR Fusion Architecture: Delivering Real-Time Information at the Operational Edge’ is scheduled for Monday, August 30th at 12:30 p.m. in Room RR6.
During his seminar, Dr. Hanson will detail an approach that integrates fusion and analysis applications on a miniature, high performance computer to provide near-real-time processing of multiple data streams from individual sensors.
Dr. Hanson brings nearly 32 years of technology leadership experience to Criterion Systems, a systems integrator providing innovative, technology-enabled business solutions to government agencies. As COO, he leads the teams designing and supporting mission-critical systems for the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Intelligence Community and federal civilian agencies.
He also serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at sister company, Criterion HPS. Criterion HPS delivers optimized solution servers that are designed for the ‘edge of the cloud’ environments where power, space, and cooling are important.
“Historically ISR capabilities have been hindered by lack of compute power and excessive weight,” said Hanson. “A new generation of multi-sensor high performance computing solutions designed specifically for aerial operations and reconnaissance are eliminating the trade-offs between performance and weight. Deploying ISR Fusion to the edge is a breakthrough capability that provides access to real-time data from multiple sensors, enhancing situational awareness and improving mission outcome – this is a powerful tool for our troops engaged in combat.”
Prior to joining Criterion, Dr. Hanson served as CIO for the U.S. Senate where he was responsible for the technology vision and strategy. He is a respected international lecturer and author, and the recipient of numerous awards for leadership and professional excellence including two FED 100 Awards and an AFFIRM Leadership Award. Dr. Hanson earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida, a master’s of science degree in information systems from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology, and a bachelor of science from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is also an adjunct full professor, teaching graduate computer science courses for the University of Maryland University College.
The Air Force Information Technology Conference will take place August 30 – September 2 at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa located in Montgomery, Ala.
